Training and fasting – good or bad?

Træning og faste – godt eller skidt?

Should you eat before training? Or is it sometimes better to train on an empty stomach?

When does fasted training make sense?
Fasted training is training without food in the body.
It is often used and works well for:
  • Quiet and peaceful Zone 2
  • Periods of lower intensity in training
  • Short sessions under 90 minutes
  • Fat burning
  • Train your mental mindset
But it requires that you are healthy, well-rested – and have control over your recovery afterwards.

There are also limitations
Fasted training can quickly cost you quality:
  • Lower intensity = you get less out of the workout
  • Increased fatigue and poorer recovery
  • Risk of going sugar-free – and teaching the body the wrong thing
It's not just about completing the training, but about getting results from it.

We recommend, depending on whether you can eat something or not

The training must not just be carried out – it must work.

Our opinion:

Fasted training is a tool, not a solution.
It can be used strategically during periods such as when training at low intensity - but for most people, a little energy before training is a better way to progress.
