New tests are constantly emerging that promise to make it easier to track our training to get more out of it. But what considerations should you make before jumping into a bunch of tests?
We go through a variety of tests, covering everything from heart rate to lactate and indirect calorimetry. While many of the tests have good purposes, it is important to be aware of measurement uncertainties and the interpretation of the results.
We discuss when it makes sense to have these tests done, and how they can be used to actually improve. But could it be just as good not to in some cases? For many, it's also about getting better at listening to the body's signals, and we discuss whether it can sometimes be an advantage not to be completely dependent on tests.
