#30 Mental training with Mindwise
We all know that the mental aspect is important, but how do you actually approach it? Most people probably have a relationship with mental training that runs on autopilot, without actually working on it to become better at tackling the challenges that arise in our minds.
We have the pleasure of speaking with Mikkel and Håkon from Mindwise, both of whom, with impressive CVs, talk about how they work with mental training on a daily basis. They train not only Denmark's best Ironman athlete, Magnus Elbæk Ditlev, but also the business community and ordinary exercisers. Because everyone can benefit from getting more structure and more tools to handle the mental approach.
We review what sports psychology is and what happens in the mind when you have to perform under pressure. They present the ACT method, which is compared to old-fashioned mental training. Here, we focus on six core processes that increase psychological flexibility and how these can help us in both training and competition.
Finally, we talk about Magnus' mental battle during Ironman Texas 2022, and how he managed to use the tools Mikkel taught him to overcome a difficult defect with a time loss of over 10 minutes - and still secure second place on the podium.
