#13 Mental sundhed, identitet og motivation i sport

Although talking about mental health in sports is becoming more common, for many it is still a difficult topic to bring up with others. Together with elite runner Carolien, we talk about three aspects: mental health, identity and motivation.

Denmark is generally good at focusing on the mental aspect, but it seems as if there is still a gap between those who understand the importance of the mental aspect of sport and those who neglect it. For most people, understanding the importance of one's mental health for both well-being and performance will help give them more tools to perform better.

Because when you play sports several times a week, your identity quickly becomes tied to it. But what do you do if you lose it again or get injured? And what considerations should you make to keep your motivation up?

We present different values and techniques to get on top mentally and thus increase your chances of having fun with your sport and performing better. We find inspiration in our own experiences and come up with techniques to tackle the difficult times. The point is that if the head is not there, the body has nothing to follow.
