First part:
We are approaching one of the biggest sporting events in Denmark, namely Ironman Copenhagen 2024. Together with Lasse Jeppesen from Actiwise, we will talk about why triathlon and the Ironman distance are special, and how Danish athletes currently seem to have cracked the code to perform internationally.
How do you best prepare for such an event with three different disciplines, and does the focus differ throughout the preparation period?
We set up a case with Thien at the center and review everything in the training: training intensities, periodization, mental preparation, warm-up training and gear.
Second part:
We continue our conversation with Lasse from Actiwise about preparing for an Ironman. How do you approach the last 3 weeks leading up to the competition itself? We specifically review the four elements:
-
Escalation
-
Time goal
-
Energy
-
Hydration
Lasse and Thien share their thoughts on how to get ready for the start and then execute all three disciplines. We look at what to focus on during swimming, cycling and running. An Ironman will take over 10 hours for most people, and that's a long time to fill your head with negative thoughts. How do you deal with a body that is drained of energy, while the mental aspect also plays a role?
